THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has deployed poll staff in readiness for today’s elections in Kalumbila and Mushindamo districts.
Voters in Kalumbila and Mushindamo districts will be going to the polls today to elect council chairmen in line with the new amended Constitution.
Kalumbila district electoral officer Frank Kalenga told the Daily Nation in an interview that the commission had engaged about 298 poll staff who had been deployed at all the 47 polling stations in the district.
He said the commission was ready for the polls and that all the logistics were in place.
“We are very much ready for the polls today, and as I am speaking all the poll staff have already been deployed to all the polling stations in the district,’’ said Mr Kalenga.
He appealed to the polling staff to be of sober mind and show exemplary conduct.
“The commission is known to be a credible institution so we will not tolerate any misbehaviour from our staff during the election period,” he said.
And in Mushindamo, 184 poll staff had been deployed to all the 36 polling stations.
District electoral officer Samuel Musonda said all the staff had already been deployed to all the polling stations apart from Sobonto, Mapande and Luamfula where staff would be airlifted due to the poor state of the road.
